With the weather decidedly wintery, and the short daylight hours in Scotland this time of year, any opportunity to get outdoors is very welcome. Sketching is a challenge though, as fingers quickly become too numb to hold a pencil or brush. But there is nothing better than walking on a crisp winters day. Last Sunday I managed a hill walk into the cheviots with a friend. I have been working up that experience in the studio, as the rain and “dreich” weather returned.
