Art in Lockdown

“These paintings are a response to, and completed, during the covid lockdowns. Each day we would walk along the local paths and tracks around Kelso, and when restrictions allowed, I would take my sketchbook and camera. It was a chance to observe, appreciate and gather well-being from our immediate surroundings.

These tightly controlled watercolours mirrored our tightly controlled lives, and, as we lived our lives so differently, this painting style again was, for me, unusual and challenging. The new language and phrases which quickly became part of our normal discourse are echoed in the subject matter”
